Women's Soccer Team Makes Championships

CONCORD – When our student athletes set a GOAL – they really stick to it!

The NHTI Lynx Women’s Soccer Team and Cross-Country Team will be competing in the United State Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship in Virginia Beach this weekend. The teams compete as part of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC), a division within the USCAA.

NHTI Women’s Soccer’s first game is Friday, Nov. 11, at 2:30 p.m. against #1 seed SUNY ESF.

The Lynx are the 5th seed going into the tournament as runners-up in the YSCC. They were defeated in the YSCC Championship game 1-0 to Paul Smith’s College, which remained undefeated this year. NHTI had a 6-4-1 record overall and a record of 3 wins and 2 losses against teams in the YSCC conference.

During the tournament, NHTI’s goalie Madison Lima was awarded the outstanding defensive player, allowing only 2 goals in the finals and semifinals, including a pressure-filled round of penalty kicks.

In addition, Lynx head coach Heidi Crockett was named the YSCC Coach of the Year, and Megan Lancaster (freshmen striker) and Morgan Rule (sophomore center back) were named to the All-Conference team. Lancaster tied for the conference lead in assists with 6 and finished second in the conference with 17 goals and 43 points. Rule was considered the best all-around defender, defending the opposing team’s best forwards as the last line of defense.

NHTI’s captains are Kallee Selby and Grace Bradley. Both play midfield.

Paul Smith’s College will also be in the USCAA tournament as will Southern Maine CC and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
