Professor Carter began as an adjunct professor in 2005 and joined the Architectural Engineering Technology department at NHTI as a full time professor in 2008. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH earning a Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Her experience ranges from structural building design and inspection, to dam analysis, to water and wastewater projects for municipal systems, and utility construction inspection.

Professor Carter is a Licensed Professional Engineer in New Hampshire, and was named NH Young Engineer of the Year in 2010. She is actively involved in professional engineering societies and served on the Board of Directors for the New Hampshire Society of Professional Engineers 2006-08. In addition to teaching civil engineering courses in the ARET Department, she is the advisor to the Architectural Engineering Technology Club at NHTI and regularly volunteers in her community to promote the engineering profession.
