As part of our ongoing series that highlights NHTI alumni, the following blog post is written by Matt Fish, who completed his Business Management and Marketing degrees in 2002.

My high school grades were mediocre at best. After returning home from enlisting in the Marine Corps and having several odd jobs, I never thought college was going to be a fit for me. However, I was ready to make a change. In the mid 1990s, I decided to enroll in some prerequisite night courses at NHTI.

Much to my surprise, I earned excellent grades and attributed this to the wonderful staff and accommodating environment NHTI provided. I knew at this point that I wanted to take my college career to the next level.

After much hard work, a few years later, at 25 years old, I started attending NHTI as a full-time student. My first full time day was on 9/11/2001. Within two years, I managed to graduate with two Associates degrees; one in Business Management and the other in Marketing. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2002. I then was able to transfer every credit earned at NHTI to Southern NH University. By taking summer courses at both schools and doing an internship, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing in only three years in 2003. I also graduated Magna Cum Laude from SNHU.

Having the degrees has helped me advance in several different career paths. These include affiliate coordinator, regional sales manager, account executive, small business owner, landlord, sales specialist, and now as a general manager. Graduating with my degrees from NHTI first gave me the confidence I needed to continue to do well at a university and beyond.
