NHTI – Concord’s Community College is pleased to announce an in-kind gift of several pieces of equipment and tools valued at $3,000 for the Radiation Therapy program.

The Radiation Therapy program at NHTI trains students to work as radiation therapists in cancer treatment centers. Radiation therapists work under the direction of an oncologist to treat patients with malignant diseases using ionizing radiation. NHTI offers both an Associate in Science, and a certificate option (available for students with prior degrees in radiological sciences). The radiation therapist uses creativity in a patient care environment with new technology. NHTI offers the only Radiation Therapy program in N.H., offering students in northern New England the opportunity to enter Radiation Therapy with state-of-the-art clinical facilities.

NHTI is grateful to industry donors like Klarity Medical Products, of Heath Ohio, for donating much needed up-to-date equipment and tools currently in use in the medical field of radiation therapy.

Amy VonKadich, department chair, gratefully expressed, “This equipment allows our lab to have the most current products and equipment that are being used out in our clinical facilities. This donation provides our students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with their use and arrive at clinical sites well prepared. With practice on this equipment at our campus lab, it enables the students to concentrate on their techniques and patient care skills which helps them be more successful within the clinical portion of the program. Donations such as this allow our campus lab to remain current and efficient.”

NHTI’s Radiation Therapy program boasts excellent job opportunities with high employer satisfaction. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and find employment in hospitals and private clinics. For more information on this and other radiologic programs, explore NHTI’s website www.NHTI.edu/program/radiation-therapy or contact NHTI’s department chair, Amy VonKadich, at [email protected].

As a public community college, NHTI provides accessible, affordable, and industry-relevant programs. With “community” central to our mission, we rely heavily on strong partnerships with industry, community members, donors, and alumni to financially support our academic programs and aid student success in their education and workforce pathways.
