Counting Their Way to the Top: NHTI Math Team Claims 1st Place in the Northeas
CONCORD – Teamwork equals success: The Math Team at NHTI – Concord’s Community College has finished its 2022-2023 Student Mathematics League season as part of the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) placing first among the New England member schools, first in the Northeast region, and fifteenth in the nation overall.
The season is divided into two rounds of competition with a maximum team score of 200 points per round and a maximum individual score of 40 points per round. The team placed second in the Northeast region with top scorer Ryan Coyne with 15 points; Ben Eid, Erin Snook, and Farhaan Siddiqui also competed. In the second round, the team scored 101.5 points, placing first in the Northeast. High scorers were Anshul Rastogi and Garima Rastogi both with 32.5 points; also competing were Ben Eid, Erin Snook and Ryan Coyne.
NHTI Math Team Shines Bright: Champions of the Northeast in Mathematical Prowess
The combined results from both rounds earned NHTI’s Math Team its top spot on the leaderboard and the Lois A. Martin trophy, named in 2011 to honor of the first New Englander to win the national AMATYC Teaching Excellence award in Mathematics at a community college. Coyne was also awarded a $100 prize for being the top NHTI performer on the two competition exams.
