NHTI CARES was created in Fall 2018 in response to faculty and staff seeing an increase in students experiencing short-term financial stress due to specific, unanticipated circumstances.
The purpose of NHTI CARES is to help with immediate, emergency, and one-time bills that students need assistance in paying due to such things as loss of employment, unanticipated medical issues, changes in family dynamics, and/or unanticipated expenses associated with NHTI course work.
Examples of what NHTI CARES can pay for include, but are not limited to, medical expenses, weather- and work-appropriate clothing, groceries, car repairs, and professional licensure. These funds are not intended to be used for textbooks, tuition, or room & board expenses associated with NHTI.
There is a $75 cap on assistance per request. Two financial awards can be awarded per semester, including summer semester, for a total of $450 awarded per year.
