We at Counseling Services offer individual short-term counseling and prevention services to all NHTI students. Counseling services are provided by licensed mental health professionals. Our counselors are sensitive to issues of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, culture and learning differences. Counseling sessions are confidential and not part of the academic record. For longer term services, referrals are made to local mental health professionals. Crisis intervention services are offered during open hours. After hour crisis coverage is coordinated with community mental health services. We provide the following services:
- Individual Counseling
- Alcohol and Drug information and Preventative Counseling
- Consultation to students, staff and faculty
- Crisis Intervention

Mariah Manning is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience in residential, school, and private practice settings across Pennsylvania and New Hampshire. I have been with NHTI Counseling Services since February of 2018. During her time with the college, I have become passionate about normalizing mental health services for the NHTI community. I believe strongly that taking care of ones’ mental health promotes academic success. Reducing the stigma concerning reaching out for help and creating a culture of understanding around mental health at NHTI will only strengthen the community and serves to bolster success for all. I urge students to come to the counseling office for preventative mental wellness as well as to receive support through events of impact including; grief and loss, financial difficulties, family struggles, and incidents of Domestic, Interpersonal, and Sexual violence. I am able to work with a variety of symptoms that students may experience including; Anxiety, Depression, loneliness, self-esteem issues, mood instability, stress, and emotional overwhelm.
Luis Rosa is the Director of Counseling and Student Development at NHTI. I have over 25 years of mental health experience both in Higher Education and community mental health. I have practiced in Ohio, Oregon, Vermont and now New Hampshire. I have areas of expertise in mood and anxiety, trauma, sexual orientation and multicultural issues and concerns. After working in mental health on college and university campuses for almost two decades, I have seen firsthand the value of counseling in helping students meet their academic goals. I encourage you to contact us if you have a question about our services or think what we offer may help.
Almost all counseling services are done by appointments. Because appointments are reserved for you, cancellations should be made as early as possible so that the vacated time may be made available to another person. To make an appointment call (603) 230-4043.
