NHTI’s women's soccer team has become one of the nation's perennial powers among two-year colleges, competing regionally and nationally in the US Collegiate Athletic Association.
In 2017 the Lynx went undefeated in conference play for the fourth year in a row and repeated as the winner of the YSCC Championship Tournament. In addition, they were awarded the #8 seed for the USCAA National Tournament in Virginia Beach where they were the only 2 year college on the women’s side of the tournament.
The Lynx once again had the YSCC Player of the Year as Maura Hart as well as 2 YSCC All Conference Players: Maura Hart and Alexis Duclos. NHTI also was awarded the Sportsmanship Award as well as Heidi Crockett was awarded the YSCC Coach of the Year. The awards continued to come as we were fortunate to have 3 USCAA All Americans: Maura Hart (First Team) and Alexis Duclos and Fallyn Mele (Honorable Mention). Katie Brockway and Hannah Pellerin also won the USCAA All Academic Award, awarded to student athletes that are at least sophomores that attain a GPA of a 3.5 or higher.
Head Coach Heidi Crockett enters her fifth season at the helm and first year Assistant Stefani Gauthier look to take their program to an even higher level this year by working harder on development and TEAM. Their philosophy of “playing for the love of the game” has brought them a lot of success in the past and they plan to continue on with this ideal at NHTI.
Coach Crockett and Coach Gauthier, having both played sports at the collegiate level, understand the demands of the classroom and the soccer pitch. Their “ultimate goal” is to give their athletes the confidence to be successful in the classroom as well as on the pitch.
