High school students explore NHTI's offerings.

Take College Classes in High School!

NHTI offers high school students like you a unique opportunity to take supplemental college courses while you’re still in high school. These course credits can then be transferred to a 4-year institution or counted toward your associate degree at NHTI.

In fact, some high school classes mirror courses that NHTI requires for our Liberal Arts associate degree! When these requirements overlap, there’s opportunity to optimize your high school course load to earn credits in NHTI’s Liberal Arts program – this decreases time, saves money, and offers you the freedom to explore options without an expensive 4-year college commitment.

For more information on any of these programs and how to get started, fill out the form at the bottom of this page. You can also contact Mark Bograd, coordinator of high school outreach, at 603-230-4029/[email protected]

Transfer Academy: High School -> NHTI -> UNH

NHTI’s unique Transfer Academy lays out your pathway from high school to NHTI to UNH. Starting as early as your sophomore and junior years, you can take courses that – once applied to your NHTI education – may also transfer to your bachelor’s degree at UNH on its Durham campus. This translates into a savings of almost $16,000!

Early College at Your High School

This is a concurrent enrollment partnership between participating high schools and NHTI for students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Students have the opportunity earn credit toward high school graduation while earning college credit at NHTI at the same time.

Courses are taught by qualified high school faculty who have the same credentials as a CCSNH adjunct instructor and are taught during the regular school day.  The teachers work with the NHTI faculty partners to align the curriculum to the NHTI requirements.

This program allows you to:

  • Earn college credit at NHTI while earning credit toward high school graduation.
  • Take courses during your normal school day.
  • Register for courses for a significant savings.
  • Take a college course to find out what it is like.

Any student in grades 9-12 in the Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering program may register for Early College at Your High School credit. We have 25-30 NHTI faculty partners who work with 30-35 high schools and over 130 different classes each year.

Please contact your high school counselor for courses available at your high school.

Funding is available for sophomores, juniors, and seniors to take up to two STEM/CTE courses per year through the Governor’s STEM/CTE Scholarship Fund.

Early College on a College Campus

Take a course on the NHTI campus for a discounted rate of 50% off the tuition!* There is no application to this program – it is open to any N.H. high school student. We average 50-60 Early College students attending NHTI courses per semester.

This program allows you to:

  • Enroll in courses that are not available in high school.
  • Experience real college courses on a real college campus.
  • Explore career options in a major you may be considering.
  • Save time and money towards your degree!

This program allows you to fully immerse into NHTI and includes access to support services, clubs and organizations, and all other opportunities except athletics and housing.

*This does not include books or other materials required for the courses.

Early College Online

This is a dual-credit program that gives N.H. high school students the opportunity to take 100% online college courses through the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) while earning high school and college credit simultaneously.

This program allows you to:

  • Earn high school and college credit for the same online course.
  • Access your class anytime/anywhere to fit your busy schedule.
  • Learn from highly qualified CCSNH faculty.
  • Gain valuable experience with college coursework.
  • Transfer credits to many colleges and universities.

NEW: NHTI now offers an online dental assisting science course: ADED 110C Dental Assisting Science I. This course can be taken by any student interested in the Dental Assisting program and as an e-start course for high school students and transferred when they are accepted into the Dental Assisting program at NHTI. View the course here.

eStart is a partnership between the Community College System of NH (CCSNH) and the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS).

Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) helps high school students explore college programs and careers in engineering or engineering technology by completing a sequence of courses as part of their high school curriculum. Courses include Introduction to Engineering Design, Digital Electronics, Principles of Engineering and Computer Integrated Manufacturing.

Students who have successfully completed any of these courses may be eligible to apply credits to NHTI’s Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Technology major. PLTW is a Concurrent Enrollment Partnership between participating high schools and NHTI.

CISCO Academy

The CISCO Academy is a curriculum offered by CISCO that provides a method for secondary and higher education academic institutions to offer CISCO-certified training. NHTI has been authorized by CISCO to offer training for the CISCO Certified Network Associate Training Program since 1999.

For more information, fill out the form at the bottom of this page, or contact Mark Bograd, coordinator of high school outreach, at 603-230-4029/[email protected]

CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN. CCNA curriculum includes basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology, and performance-based skills.

A CCNA works with networking equipment such as routers and switches to build LANs and WANs, which allow people to share information, access the internet and work collaboratively from across the room or on opposite sides of the world.

At NHTI you will be building LANs, WANs, and wireless networks with CISCO routers and switches and connecting various end user devices including Windows clients, servers, printers, web servers and others. You will gain knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, WAN standards such as HDLC and PPP and routing protocols such as OSPF, RIPv2 and EIGRP. You will also implement layer 2 concepts such as VLANs and Spanning Tree protocol.

If your goal is to learn how to build and maintain small to medium sized LANs and WANs or if you are currently working in the field and want to obtain the CCNA certification to further your skills and career, this track is for you.

Benefits of CCNA Certification

CISCO certification validates achievement, so it increases the holder’s professional credibility by ensuring high standards of technical expertise.

A CCNA can do the following:

  • Install and configure CISCO switches and routers in multiprotocol LANs and WANs
  • Provide Level 1 troubleshooting service
  • Improve network performance and security

Positions for a CCNA include:

  • Help desk engineer
  • Field technician
  • Level 1 systems engineer

Program Highlights:

NHTI’s CISCO Lab is equipped with:

  • 100+ routers
  • 100+ switches
  • 8 CISCO VoIP routers
  • 16 CISCO IP Phones
  • Instructors are trained and certified through the CISCO Academy.
  • Small classes for more one-on-one instructor interaction.
  • Program accommodates different learning styles by using multiple media to deliver content

Note: While this program requires no previous network experience, it is necessary to have basic computer skills, which includes basic PC operating system experience, email and Internet access and basic word processing skills.
