RD Eric Benn came to NHTI from the small state of Rhode Island, where he worked in the hospitality industry with Marriott Hotels. He graduated from Plymouth State University in Communications with a focus on Film and Media.
While studying at Plymouth, Eric was actively involved in student activities, from the campus programming board to the school’s Student Senate. He was also involved with the school’s Residential Life department. Student affairs is something that Eric has always had a passion for. “I feel that half of what students learn while at college is what we in the student affairs field offer: community, civility, and prosperity.”
Eric is an avid movie fan, especially in the horror genre. In his spare time he keeps up with an online blog, reviewing television shows and movies. He is co-advisor of the NHTI Gay Straight Alliance, and is looking forward to bringing some new traditions to the campus incorporating the LGBTQ community.
Head RA Nicholas Garland is from Ossipee, NH and is currently studying Business Administration. He intends to be the first male in his family to earn a college degree. This will be Nick’s third year at NHTI, and second year working in the residence life department. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Rho Alpha Sigma and C.A.B. as the treasurer. He plans on transferring after NHTI, but is keeping his options open as to where he goes. Nicholas loves to play pool and can often be found in the recreation lounge. He is looking forward to meeting new residents as well as seeing returners. He is very approachable and is looking forward to helping residents this upcoming semester. He is currently located at room in 101 at Strout Hall!
Emily Chick is a Resident Assistant in Strout Hall. This will be Emily’s second year at NHTI and her third semester as an RA. She is currently a General Studies major but hopeful of transferring into the Dental Hygiene program. Emily is involved with Hall Council as well as Campus Activities Board. Emily was born and raised in Rochester, New Hampshire and graduated from Spaulding High School in 2014. When she has free time, Emily enjoys hiking, running, and skiing. She is a great listener, and if you need any help or just want to talk, feel free to swing by her room in 323!
Greetings! My name is Kieran Michael OBrien, born and raised in Sunapee, NH. I am an RA on the second floor, located in room 223 of Strout Hall! This is my second year at NHTI and my second semester as an RA. I am currently studying Information Technology, focusing in Applications Development. I love to mess around with computers and enjoy working with others to try and figure out any computer problems they have.
I have an open personality and love meeting new people. In my spare time I like to be active either working out or playing basketball, baseball, Frisbee, long board, basically anything that gets me out of my room. I am always open for new things in my life and love to encourage others to do the same! I chose to be a Resident Assistant because I love helping others. If you ever need anything feel free to find me!
Hi Everyone! My name is Kayla Barnes and I am currently enrolled in the General Studies Program with the goal of later going on into the Radiology Program here at NHTI. I grew up in the small town of Wilton, New Hampshire; it’s right next to Milford if any of you know where that is. It will be my first year as an RA here and my second as a student. I am Co-President of the Campus Activities Board with the lovely Emily Chick (my floor mate), and this will also be my second year on the NHTI volleyball team. In my spare time I love going to the beach, kayaking, hiking, or camping; I get a bit stir crazy if I am inside for too long. Around campus you can find me in the gym or around Strout watching a movie. I am easy to talk to and would love to get to know you, as well as help you out with anything you need. If you need to find me I’ll be in room 307!
Aloha Everyone! My name is Colby Chaput and this is going to be my first semester as a resident assistant. I was born and raised in Swanzey, NH (right outside of Keene). I am an outgoing, fun guy and I am looking forward to meeting new residents and seeing all the returners. I currently study Criminal Justice and want to go on to be a parole officer one day. Fall is my favorite season. I love to play any sort of sport especially basketball, soccer, and golf. Hiking, being generally adventurous, mountain biking, spelunking, and finding a great swimming-hole are my true passions though. In my free time I play video games occasionally and love to just hang out. Anytime you want to stop in and hang out or just talk you can always find me around in the rec lounge or in my room, located in 207!
