Nursing Lab Will Benefit
CONCORD — NHTI – Concord’s Community College announces a generous donation in the amount of $4,040 from the Long Term Care Forum to be used for Nursing and Allied Health programs.
NHTI’s Nursing department chair Mary Jean Byer, RN MS, stated, “We’re so very appreciative of this donation which allows us to purchase items for our Clinical Resource Center lab. All students will benefit as faculty create challenging, real-life learning experiences to enhance diversity and student knowledge of caring for older adults and promoting skill development that is critical for the nursing profession.”
The Long Term Care Forum was founded in 1989 by ten registered nurses to promote the education of nurses and nursing assistants working in the long term care nursing setting. The Forum was dissolved in 2005 and recently decided to donate the balance of their funds to an institution of higher education to be used for Nursing and Allied Health programs.
NHTI is pleased with this unexpected yet very much needed donation and will use the funds to purchase geriatric simulation equipment, feeding tube pumps, IV pumps, and other equipment and supplies to prepare our nursing students for the daily patient demands in the field.
