Ultrasound Imaging System for Student Sonographers
NHTI – Concord’s Community College is thrilled to accept the donation of an ultrasound imaging system from Exeter Hospital, a long-standing supporter of NHTI’s sonography education. The hospital also serves as a clinical site for the sonography program.
Sonography students spend their first semester learning imaging skills before going out to clinic in the spring. In order to provide critical hands-on experience for an increasing number of students; the college appreciates donated funds for programs, scholarships, and equipment – including donations of used equipment to make that happen. Since most hospitals now lease their equipment and are required to turn in the old equipment to the manufacturer at the end of the lease, vital equipment donations are becoming less common.
Sonographers acquire diagnostic images to aid in the diagnosis of disease. The equipment used is highly specialized, expensive, and advancing rapidly. This generous donation from Exeter Hospital will ensure that NHTI students gain necessary hands-on skills before their clinical placements at hospitals and clinics throughout northern New England.
Exeter Hospital is a 100-bed community hospital serving New Hampshire’s Seacoast Region. Exeter Hospital’s scope of care includes comprehensive services in breast health, birthing and reproductive medicine, cardiovascular, occupational and employee health, oncology, orthopaedics, and emergency care.
