Creative Field Trip

Creative Writing class on Pierce Island

Math Team Ranked 2nd in New England

Nichols Wins NEMATYC Prize

The results for the NHTI Math Team’s 2015-16 Student Math League (SML) season are in, and the team had another successful year.

Gunnar NicholsIn the first round with a score of 61 points, the team placed 6th in the Northeast region (out of 20 teams).   Top scorers for the meet were:  Chris Taylor (18 points) and Gunnar Nichols (17 points, right).  Chris ranked 7th and Gunnar ranked 9th in the region out of 193 students.  Ryleigh Lorimer, Alexander Turner, Michael Mulligan, Roger Pellicano, and Richey Bittle also competed. 

Though the roster was quite different in the second round, the team posted a respectable score of 57.5 but placed 10th in the region. Top Scorer for the second meet was Gunnar Nichols with 17.5 points (placing 4th in the region out of 193 students).  Also competing were Andrew Allard, Dakoda Robinson, Elijah Gravenhorst, Patrick Shields, and Rober Ducharme.

With the combined results from the two meets, NHTI’s Math Team placed 2nd within the New England Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (NEMATYC) member schools, 5th in the Northeast region, and 91st  (out of 186 schools) in the nation.  Individually, Gunnar Nichols placed 4th, out of 193 students, within the Northeast Region. 

The NEMATYC awarded Gunnar Nicholas a $100 prize for being the top NHTI performer.

Time's almost up to get your tickets for the Student American Dental Hygienists Association (SADHA) kayak raffle!

This year's prize is a Perception Impulse 10 Kayak (shown at right) from Contoocook River Canoe Company, LLC.  They've even thrown in a paddle! Suggested donation for 1 ticket is $3, or $10 for 4 tickets. Tickets are available from Donna Gleeson in the Dental Office, MacRury 142.

The drawing will be held on May 6th at 8:00 am in M 142. The odds of winning this sharp looking kayak are really good -- so come on over and support SADHA!
