Vets Plant Tree for President
The NHTI Veterans Club planted an oak tree on the lawn between Little Hall and the Child & Family Development Center this week in honor of recently-retired college president Lynn Kilchenstein, who stepped down from her position at the end of 2013. Club president Steve Kazakis gave a short speech, thanking the former president for her many accomplishments on behalf of veteran students at the college. These included establishing a veterans lounge on campus, enabling out-of-state veterans to attend the college at in-state rates, and making NHTI the first school in New Hampshire to fly the Honor and Remember flag. A small plaque will stand next to the new tree reading, "President Lynn Kilchenstein. In appreciation for her support of Student Veterans. 2013."
