The Raising of America

Wednesday, Feb 17
5:30 - 7:15 pm
Concord Orthopaedics Audi (G 106)

The CFDC staff and the Child and Family Studies Department will be hosting a viewing of the signature 1st hour of the documentary series, 'The Raising of America'.  This five-part documentary series explores the questions:  Why are so many children in America faring so poorly?  What are the consequences for the nation's future?  How might we, as a nation, do better?

The series investigates these questions through different lenses:  What does science tell us about the enduring importance of early life experiences on the brain and body?  What it is like to be a parent today?  And what policies and structures help or hinder the raising of healthy, happy and compassionate children?  The Signature Hour covers all of these issues.

Free and open to the NHTI community.

Wings of Knowledge Presents:
Main Street Concord

6:00 - 8:00 pm

Ed Roberge, City Engineer for Concord, NH, and Brett St. Clair, Partner, Louis Karno & Co. Communications, will speak about the Main Street improvement project in downtown Concord.  Their presentation will focus on how Concord transformed its downtown into a "complete street" through an open and all-inclusive public process.  Details ranging from the development of Concord’s complete streets policy to applying flexible design solutions will give participants a full understanding of how an extensive public process can still provide timely results on a schedule-constrained federally funded project.

This program is jointly sponsored by the NHTI Architectural Engineering Technology Club and Wings of Knowledge in honor of National Engineers Week.  Free and open to the public.
