B'ballers 2 for 3 On the Week

On Thursday Dec 4, NHTI dropped a men’s and women’s doubleheader to YSCC rival Southern Maine Community College in basketball action at the Wellness Center.

Danielle KimballIn the women’s game, Mackenzie Lloyd (Farmington) and Danielle Kimball (Derry, right) both played well for the Lynx, totaling 16 points and 13 points respectively. 

Yordy TaravezThe men’s game proved to be a see-saw battle, with SMCC rallying down the stretch to seal the win 88-80.  Yordy Tavarez (Nashua, left) scored 20 points, Curtis Williams (Newmarket) added 17 points and Richard Shout (Manchester) chipped in 12 points for the Lynx.

The following day, NHTI swept Word of Life Bible Institute in men’s and women’s basketball action at the Wellness Center as part of the NHTI Holiday Basketball Festival.

Allura LeblancThe Lynx women jumped out to an early 9-2 lead and never looked back behind 31 points from Kimball.  NHTI also placed Lloyd and Allura Leblanc (Northwood, left) in double figures with 11 and 12 points respectively.

Gabe NicholsThe NHTI men pressured Word of Life from the start cruising to a 50-24 halftime score and easily winning 82-59.  Tavarez scored 19 points with teammate Gabe Nichols (Hopkinton, right) adding 10 points and 8 rebounds in the win.

On Sunday NHTI swept a men’s and women’s doubleheader vs. rival Eastern Maine Community College to close out the NHTI Holiday Basketball Festival.

In the women’s game, NHTI placed several players in double figures in the win with Leblanc scoring 18 points, while Kimball added 14 points and 6 assists.  Haley Jakubens (Gilford) and Allison Laroche (Barnstead) chipped in with 10 and 12 points respectively.

The NHTI men broke open a close first half with a 10-0 run to open the second half.  Tavarez racked up 25 points, Ethan Rutledge (Curacao) pumped in 17 points and 8 rebounds, with Williams adding 9 points for the Lynx.

NHTI All-Festival Players included Allura Leblanc and Danielle Kimball for the women's team, and Gabe Nichols and Yordy Tavarez for the men.
