Cross-Country Runners Make All-Academic Team
NHTI placed four runners on the USCAA All-Academic team at the USCAA National Championships held November 6-7 in Syracuse, NY. Congratulations to Greg Kelig (Moravia, IA) and Quinn Parker (Hampton) of the NHTI men's team, and to Brindi Scroeder (Concord) and Danira Ibrahimovic (Manchester) of the women’s team!
The NHTI men finished 13th out of 21 teams at nationals, while the women finished 14th out of 18 teams.
On Thursday November 13, the NHTI basketball teams both played home games against U-Maine Augusta.
The women overcame a 28-16 halftime deficit to rally to a 52-40 win behind 13 points from both Allura Leblanc (Northwood) and Danielle Kimball (Derry), bringing them to 5-0 for the season. The men’s improved to 6-0 by defeating the Moose 109-93 behind Yordy Tavarez (Nashua) with 21 points and 5 assists, with Curtis Williams (Newmarket) chipping in 15 points and 8 rebounds.
On Saturday and Sunday the 15th and 16th, NHTI hosted the Hogan Camps Thanksgiving Tournament, and both teams finally saw their perfect records broken.
In the women’s games on Saturday, Bunker Hill CC beat NHTI 72-50. NHTI’s Leblanc scored 14 and Kimball added 11 points in NHTI's first loss of the season. Meanwhile, Dean College beat Eastern Maine CC to also advance to the women's championships.
In the men’s games, Dean outlasted EMCC 80-66 to advance to the men's championships.
In Sunday's women's bracket, EMCC defeated NHTI 53-45 in the consolation game. NHTI was led in a balanced attack by Kimball and Liz Sinotte (Concord) with 9 points. The Dean women defeated Bunker Hill 63-51 for the women's championship. In the men's bracket, Dean defeated NHTI 96-80 to capture the crown. The women's team now stands at 5-2 on the season, while the men stand at 6-1.
All-Tournament award winners for NHTI included Danielle Kimball, Curtis Williams and Morlo Macklin (Bridgeport, CT).
