Men's & Women's Basketball Teams Still Unbeaten

Both NHTI basketball teams dominated their opponents during the Edward Jones Tap-Off Classic hosted on campus during the weekend of November 7-9, to continue their unbroken winning streaks for the early Fall 2015 season.

The men's team starting things off on Friday with a solid 123-98 win over Mass Bay CC.  NHTI featured a balanced scoring attack led by Yordy Tavarez (Nashua) with 22 points and 6 assists, Jordan Lates (Nashua) with 16 points, Curtis Williams (Newmarket) with 18 points and 5 assists, and Jon Boykin (Stamford, Ct) with 18 points.

The men improved to 5-0 on the season with an 86-82 win over Vaughn College on Saturday.  A balanced scoring attack led by Tavarez with 19 ponts and 7 assists, Williams scoring 17, and Ethan Rutledge (Curacao) with 16 points and 9 rebounds led the way for the Lynx.  Williams and Tavarez were both named to the Edward Jones All-Classic team.

Meanwhile, the NHTI defeated Quinsigumund CC 55-38 in their first game on Saturday.  Pacing the Lynx were Allura Leblanc (Northwood) with 11 points and 9 rebounds, and Stephanie Winsor (Moultonborough) with 11 points and 6 assists.

In the Sunday finale the Lynx beat Bristol CC 51-26, led by Leblanc with 13 points and Haley Jakubens (Gilford) who added 9 points and 8 rebounds.  The Lynx now stand at 3-0 on the season.

NHTI Soccer and Volleyball players receive USCAA honors

NHTI was well represented at the USCAA All-American banquet in Charleston, West Virginia, with soccer players being recognized for their outstanding seasons.

Emily BladEmily Blad (Northwood, pictured right) was named first team USCAA All-American and Sahara Brown (Barnstead) was named second team USCAA All-American for the Lynx women’s soccer team.  Alexis Duclos (Pembroke) was honored as a mmber of the third team for the USCAA All-American team.  The Lynx captured the YSCC tournament title finishing their season at 13-3-1 for the 2014 fall season.

Kyle HaasOn the men’s side, Kyle Haas (Pembroke, pictured left) was named to the USCAA Academic All-American team, while teammates Will Salta (Laconia) and Semir Sandzic (Manchester) were named second team USCAA All-American team.

The Lynx women’s volleyball team placed two players on the USCAA All-Academic team including Paige Letrendre (Concord, below left) and Brooke Foley (Hudson, below right).
