Men's X-C, Women's V-ball, Capture Titles
|For his efforts last week, Nacho Hernando was named USCAA Men's X-C Player of the the Week.|
The NHTI men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the YSCC Invitational Championship held at NHTI on Saturday October 19. The women did not place as a team, but the men edged Paul Smith’s College to capture the YSCC title. This is the men’s first YSCC title since 2010.
Placing individually for the Lynx women were Cassie Graham (Westford, MA) 7th at 27:39, Liz Anderson (Henniker) 12th at 28:54, Catie Tirrell (Concord) 20th at 30:55, and Danira Ibrahimovic (Manchester) 21st at 31:48.Placing for the NHTI men were Nacho Hernando (Sunapee) 1st at 27:13, Quinn Parker (Hampton) 6th at 29:55, Mark Roy (Loudon) 8th at 31:08, Greg Keilig (Moravia, IA) 11th at 31:40, and Ben Wakeman (Barrington) 17th at 32:34.
Hernando, Parker, Roy, and Graham all picked up YSCC All-Conference honors by placing in the top 10 individually in this event.
Also on October 19, the women’s volleyball team triumphed in the YSCC Championships held at NHTI.
In the semi-finals, the Lynx topped Unity College 3-1. In the win, Amber Rodney (Farmington) had 32 assists with two aces and four kills, Victoria Spencer (Bridgewater) had with 19 kills and four aces and Annie Souphonphakdy (Bristol) added five digs.
In the championship game, NHTI topped U-Maine Machias 3-1 to capture the YSCC title. This is the Lynx' first YSCC championship since 2011. Rodney had 42 assists, Spencer added 22 kills with five aces, Libby Stiles (Bridgewater, MA) had 12 kills, and Paige Lentendre (Concord) contributed eight kills. Spencer was named the tournament's best offensive player and Rodney was named the tournament MVP.
The Lynx are 12-15 overall and have now concluded their season.
