NHTI Hosts YSCC Soccer Championships;
X-C, Vball Teams Also Contenders

Women's SoccerOn October 18 & 19, NHTI hosted the YSCC Men's and Women's Soccer Final Four.  Both NHTI teams had outstanding years and qualified for the playoffs, the women with a 10-3-1 record, and the men with 10-2-1 on the season.

On day one, the NHTI men defeated SMCC 5-1 behind a three goal performance from Will Salta (Laconia) along with goals from Mark Gray (Pembroke) and Austin Sartwell (Pembroke).  U-Maine Machias also advanced with a 5-2 win over Paul Smiths College.  The NHTI women overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat Unity College 3-1, with Sahara Brown (Barnstead) scoring 2 goals and Steph Gauthier (Pittsfield) also adding a goal in the win.  The U-Maine Machias women also defeated Paul Smiths College 3-2.

In the men's championship game, U-Maine Machias hung on to defeat NHTI 3-2 on a blustery windy fall day.  Will Salta (Laconia) scored NHTI both goals on assists from Austin Sartwell (Pembroke), scoring the first goal of the game to provide a 1-0 lead early in the match, and then adding a goal late in the game as NHTI pushed the tempo in an attempt to send the game into overtime.

The NHTI women defeated U-Maine Machias 3-0 in their championship game, behind a two goal performance from Sahara Brown, and a strong performance from Carrisa Pelletier (New Canada, Maine) in goal.  Michaela Rollins (Arizona) scored the other goal for NHTI in the win.

Will Salta received an Outstanding Offensive Player Award, Carissa Pelletier received Outstanding Defensive Player, and Emily Blad received the MVP award for NHTI.

In away action that same weekend, the NHTI Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams both finished in second place at the YSCC championships held in Lake Placid, NY.  Quinn Parker (Hampton) finished in third place in the men's race, just 14 seconds behind the leader.  Cody Roberge (Hopkinton ) placed a strong fifth place for the Lynx.

In the women’s race, Brindi Schroeder (Concord) finished in 7th place overall. Both NHTI teams will head to Syracuse, NY for the USCAA nationals November 6-8.

Also on the 18th, the NHTI Women’s Volleyball Team fell to Paul Smiths College in the YSCC semifinals tournament held at Unity College by a score of 3-2.  Carissa Archibald (Sanbornton) and Jesse Bergeron (Canterbury) both played well for the Lynx.
