Bowling Team Preps for Championships

The NHTI Co-Ed Bowling Team will be traveling to Lewiston, Maine over the weekend of April 12-13, 2014 for the Yankee Conference Championships.  Team members include Meghan Masury (Captain), Matthew Komisarek, John Cann, Joseph Bohi, Daniel Curran, Amanda Basnar, Timothy Ford, Keith Warner, Lucas Sowa, Kendra Strong, Alex Hunt, Brody Glidden, Connor McLeod, and Tristan Burgess.  The team is helmed by Head Coach Bobby Strong and Assistant Coach Nick Walton.

Meghan MasuryMandy BasnarMeghan Masury is the two-time Defending Yankee Conference Champion Woman Bowler.  Amanda (Mandy) Basnar was the recipient of the 2013 Most Improved Bowler award for NHTI.

Unlike most college sports, the bowling team does not participate in direct competition with other teams until the playoffs.  Instead, the team starts bowling at the beginning of the season (in February), and turns in its scores to the conference coordinator, who posts them and ranks the bowlers.

On the men’s side, NHTI bowlers currently occupy 5 of the top 20 slots: Joe Bohi (189.4), Brody Glidden (168.0), Alex Hunt (160.0), Lucas Sowa (155.8), and Keith Warner (147.8).  On the women’s side we occupy 4 of the top 20 spots: Meghan Masury (210.8), Brittany Adams (112.6), Mandy Basnar (102.8), and Kendra Strong (124.3).  Currently these are the only team members who have qualified for the conference singles playoffs.  There are also team playoffs in which all can participate.
