DESCRIPTION:We present a tribute to Robert Redford–actor\, producer\, Oscar-winning director and founder of the Sundance Film Festival (and Institute). With so many memorable films to choose from\, a representative choice was difficult to make. We decided on THE STING (1973)—in which Redford marvelously plays a Depression-era grifter who instigates an elaborate con to avenge a friend’s death. He received his only “Best Actor” Oscar nomination for this performance as Johnny Hooker. But he\, along with Brando\, Nicholson and Pacino lost to Jack Lemmon that year!
