Ten years ago, the self-immolation of a young Tunisian street vendor marked the beginning of the “Arab Spring.” The Western media rehashed this idiom without being able to provide tangible evidence on the ground. Some nostalgic and romantic intellectuals naively believed that a new “Prague Spring” was sweeping the Middle East. This presentation will shed light on the roots and outcomes of this event.
