This course provides an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms of genetic variation, natural and sexual selection, and patterns of evolutionary change, and will look at modern variations within the theory itself. The course also explores the historical development of the science and the modern social controversies associated with it. Pedagogical issues of teaching evolution may also be discussed. (Prerequisites: BIOL 112C General Biology II or equivalent with a grade of “C” or higher, or permission of the Department Chair of Natural Sciences)
