Open to all majors; designed for students with little or no electronics skills. Topics covered include basic logic gates; base 2, 10, and 16 number systems; BCD, Gray and ASCII codes, Boolean algebra, Karnaugh maps, flip-flops, counters, programmable logic devices, and other related digital devices. Hands-on lab experiments are an integral part of this course. The labs demonstrate real-world implementation of otherwise abstract academic concepts and provide valuable experience in breadboarding, testing, and debugging circuits. (Prerequisite: MATH 124C or permission of the department chair)
