Hands-On! - Hybrid Format
Course lectures for this introductory study of the concepts and techniques of delivering intraoral anesthesia are provided online and coordinated with clinical practice. Emphasis is on the prediction and prevention of medical complications. Curriculum includes head and neck anatomy, armamentarium, pharmacology, neurophysiology, patient evaluation and management, record keeping and risk management. The goal is to safely select and administer adequate local anesthesia for use in painless periodontal treatment. Course consists of 24 lecture hours and 12 clinical hours in which students practice injection techniques on partners under the supervision of NH-licensed dentists and qualified dental hygienists. Upon successful completion of the course and the NERB exam and obtaining NH permit, hygienists will be qualified to administer local anesthesia according to NH law.

Clinical Portion: Saturdays, February 3, 8:30 to 4:30, February 24, 8:30 to 4:30, March 3, 8:00 to 4:30
