Stay Healthy, Work Out, and Have Fun

The NHTI Fitness and Recreation Department provides wellness opportunities through activities, events, classes, and our on-campus fitness facilities to get and stay healthy and happy in a friendly, comfortable environment.

We strive to enhance mental, physical, and emotional well-being while giving you the opportunity to explore your own preferences and activities.

Fitness Center

The Dr. Goldie Crocker Wellness Center has a weight room and cardiovascular exercise multi-purpose room in addition to our gymnasium, which has a full-length basketball court with six baskets and bleachers. We have an athletic training area and locker rooms for our intercollegiate sports program as well as our recreational and special events.

The Wellness Center is open to NHTI students, staff, faculty, and employees of CCSNH. Alumni can use the facilities for $25 per semester.

NHTI offers a bike rental program that FREE for for ALL NHTI students, faculty, and staff plus CCSNH employees. You can: 

  • Ride one of 4 cruiser bikes
  • Rent helmets, baskets, and locks
  • Sign out at the Wellness Center Office

Disc Golf at NHTI

This fun twist on golf and frisbee is a longstanding event on NHTI’s campus and it run by the Student Senate.

Dodgeball is a fun and energetic activity, and we encourage both individual games and multi-game tournaments! NHTI students from various clubs, organizations, and residence halls have created friendly, fun competition within our community.

We host indoor soccer in our gymnasium all year long and will facilitate an organized league at our local Fieldhouse Sports Facility. 

Pickle Ball at NHTIPickle Ball is a quick, fast-paced paddle sport for all ages. It can be played as singles or doubles and is easy for beginners to learn. It combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong.

The Caccia Student Center provides a comfortable, student-friendly space to connect with each other, do homework, play ping-pong, billiards, or board games, and just hang out and watch TV.

Special Events

You’re invited to hit the links with our Lynx golfers in our recreational golf scramble held in Concord. The scramble is made up of teams of 4 playing 9 holes. A minimal fee is charged and covers pre-game drinks, post-game awards, and use of the driving range and a golf cart.

Every September, we hold a wiffleball tournament to benefit a cause. To find out more please contact Kaitlin Moody, director of student life.

In November, we hold our Annual Wheelchair Basketball Game, which raises funds for the Zech DeVits Memorial Equipment Fund to provide NHTI students access to assistive technologies and equipment. Multiple short games are played, and raffle and concession proceeds are donated to the cause.

Each semester, we host glow bowling night at Merrimack Ten Pin to help you have fun and relieve stress before finals. No experience required – and black light-sensitive clothing is encouraged!

This is a collaborative effort to encourage healthy eating, active exercise, stress reduction, and overall improved awareness of your well being to make positive lifestyle changes. This 8-week challenge includes accountability partners, check-ins, raffles, prizes and more!

The NHTI/Northeast Delta Dental 5 K Road Race is part of the Capital Area Race Series. The proceeds from this race benefit the NHTI Jennifer Kemp Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is named in memory of Jen Kemp, a graduate of the Sports Management program who worked in the NHTI Athletics/Wellness Center Office. She passed away unexpectedly in 2004. The scholarships are awarded twice a year (spring and fall semesters) to qualified students who demonstrate strong academic skills and leadership potential, while also being active in campus life and community service at NHTI.
