Substance Use Education and Prevention

NHTI is committed to providing an environment that encourages and promotes healthy lifestyle choices.

Meeting the social and academic demands of college can be challenging. At times, recreational use of substances can seem like an appealing way to cope.

Some people view college as a natural time to try substances, whether it is legal or not. But for others, substance use can lead to serious physical and mental health problems.

If you or someone one you know is facing mental and/or substance use disorders please review the following resources.

SAMHSA’s National Helpline

This is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations.
