Throughout the year, NHTI is host to many special events that include our students and local community. See below for our current list of special events at NHTI:
Mindfulness in Society Conference
This 4-part virtual speaker series invites you to explore how mindfulness can help us address challenges that have become central to our society over the last year. Personal and interpersonal insight can help build communities that foster connection, opportunity, health, and fulfillment. For more information, visit our webpage or email Laura Scott at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Next event: October 2021: ‘Rebuilding for a Better Future’
Wings of Knowledge
Launched in 2001, our Wings of Knowledge is an annual series of cultural events that are free and open to the public. The series supports and expands upon NHTI’s variety of academic offerings and is another element in the college’s expanding community college mission.
All presentations start at 6 p.m. in the NHTI Library Living Room unless otherwise noted. Wings of Knowledge is generously supported by the NHTI Student Senate and Campus Activities Board. For more information, call 603-230-4028.
Come dance with our stars! We invite local “celebrities” from in and around the Concord area to join us for a night of contests, music, and other festivities. The public is encouraged to attend to cheer on your favorites in our dance competition.
This fun event took a short break in 2021, but we will be back in 2022 with all new stars and dances. Visit our webpage for details on upcoming and past Winter Fling events. For more information, contact Laura Scott at email@example.com or 603-271-6484 x4239.

Annual Wheelchair Basketball Benefit
This wheelchair basketball game is held each year to raise money and awareness for the Zech DeVits Memorial Equipment Fund, providing NHTI students access to assistive technologies and equipment so they can be successful in school and be prepared for all that life has to offer. In a typical year, four NHTI teams and four community teams play for bragging rights and a good cause. Each game is 10 minutes long.
All qualified NHTI students with documented disabilities are encouraged to contact the Accessibility Service Office at 603-230-4027 or TTY 603-223-2316, or stop in the library office M-F 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Contact Deb Smith, director of Recreation and Wellness, at 603-230-4041, for additional information. The event is organized by NHTI Athletics, Wellness, and Alumni and Development, with our partner Granite State Independent Living.
Next Event: Monday, Nov. 1, 2021. Details coming soon!
The first wheelchair benefit evolved as part of an education course project in which students raised funds to help refurbish NHTI student Zech DeVits’ wheelchair-accessible van. Born with gigantism and skeletal dysplasia, Zech used a wheelchair since age 6 but never let that limit him or his dreams of helping others. With his towering 7’8” frame, Zech quickly became a beloved role model on campus. Unfortunately, he died in 2005 weeks before graduating from NHTI with an Associate Degree in Addiction Counseling.
