The NHTI Athletics Hall of Fame was founded to honor those individuals who have shown leadership, sportsmanship, commitment, and achievement during their time at NHTI as an athlete, coach, or supporter of our teams and our rich athletic tradition.
Induction of Athletes
- There must be a 5-year time lapse since the candidate last participated in or attended NHTI.
- The candidate will have attended NHTI for a minimum of two or more semesters; there’s a preference for NHTI graduates.
- The candidate will have a significant impact in their sport or sports along with good character and reputation.
- The candidate will have represented NHTI in a positive way as an undergraduate and as an alumnus.
- A candidate may be inducted posthumously.
Induction of Teams
- A minimum of five years must lapse between the induction of NHTI teams.
- You must have note-worthy season accomplishments.
Induction of Coaches
- There must be a 3-year lapse since the candidate last coached at NHTI.
- The candidate will have a minimum of three years of service to the department.
- The candidate will have a significant impact in their sport or sports along with good character and reputation.
- The candidate will have made a strong impact on players and the NHTI community.
- The candidate will have demonstrated an ability to enhance the athletic experience of the student-athlete while serving as a positive role model through exemplary leadership and character.
- The candidate may be inducted posthumously.
- The committee reserves the right to make exceptions.
Induction of Other Individuals
- The candidate does not need to be a graduate of NHTI.
- The candidate will have made a significant impact on the NHTI athletic programs.
- This candidate will bring favor to the NHTI community by achieving success, having good character, and be an outstanding citizen to the community.
- The candidate will have demonstrated an ability to enhance the athletic experience of the student-athlete while serving as a positive role model through exemplary leadership and character.
- The candidate may be inducted posthumously.
Process
- Nomination forms need to be filled out by May 15. They will be available year round on the NHTI Athletics page.
- The selection process will occur every June. Nominees will be contacted in late June.
- Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will be held at a designated date and time in September every year.
- The Hall of Fame induction shall have a minimum of three inductees and a maximum of ten inductees per year with possible exceptions for extenuating circumstances.
- The committee chair can designate a substitute in absence.
Ceremony
- The NHTI Lynx Booster Club would be the primary supporter of the event and the awards.
- The NHTI Lynx Booster Club will provide the post-induction reception food and beverages.
- The Hall of Fame inductees will receive a plaque as part of the ceremony.
- The ceremony is open to the public.
Any nominees not voted for induction into the Hall of Fame during the year of her/his nomination will remain in consideration for two years following their nomination. After that time, the candidate must be re-nominated for consideration.
