Debra Albrecht, CDA, RDH, M.Ed.
Debra is the Department Head for Allied Dental Education. She is a Certified Dental Assistant and a graduate of Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport, CT. She earned a B.S. degree in Dental Auxiliaries Teacher Education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a Master’s in Education from Keene State College. She began her teaching career at New Jersey Dental School, and served several years as adjunct professor at NHTI. Debra worked in private practice in both general and periodontal offices. In 1997 she became coordinator of the Cheshire Smiles Dental Program at the Cheshire Medical Center, a public health program in the Monadnock region serving children without access to dental care, a position she held for 10 years before returning to full time teaching in the dental hygiene and dental assisting programs.
John J. Girald, DMD
John J. Girald, DMD, is the Supervising Dentist for Allied Dental Education. A graduate of the Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dental Medicine, he did his residency at Yale/New Haven Hospital, and then worked at the Community Health Care Plan in New Haven, CT for three years. After many years of private practice in Connecticut, John and his wife moved to their summer home, New Hampshire, in 2011. John looks forward to sharing his many years of clinical experience with new dental hygiene students, and teaches Oral Pathology and Pain Management to second year students.
Elaine MacDonald, AS, Administrative Secretary
Elaine received her Associate’s Degree from Quinsigamond Community College. She has a Diploma in Medical Transcription from Ashworth University School of Allied Health. Elaine began her NHTI career in 2013 as the part-time secretary for Campus Safety. In 2016, she became the full-time Administrative Secretary for Allied Dental Education. Elaine has experience in office management, marketing, customer service, and bookkeeping.
Karen Wynn, RDH, M.Ed.
Karen is a professor in the dental hygiene program. She received her B.S. from the University of Iowa in dental hygiene and M.Ed. from Plymouth State University. She has professional experience in general and periodontal practice and over 25 years in dental hygiene education. She has been a full time faculty member at NHTI since 2001.
Rachel R. Leo Flagg, RDH, MA
Rachel Leo Flagg is a graduate of University of New England (previously Westbrook College) with an A.S. in Dental Hygiene. She received a M.A. in Behavioral Medicine from Connecticut College and has over 20 years of experience in a variety of private practices. She teaches pharmacology to dental hygiene students as well as pharmacology and pathology to dental assisting students. She is a clinical instructor and is often found mentoring students in radiology.
Lisa Malfait, RDH, M.Ed.
As a graduate of the NHTI Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs, Lisa has returned to NHTI to teach. She received a B.S. from New England College and a Masters Degree in Education from Plymouth State University. She has experience in private practice dental assisting and dental hygiene in the areas of general dentistry, orthodontics, prosthodontics and periodontics.
Katrina Magee, RDH, MS
Katrina received her BS in Dental Hygiene from West Virginia University in 1997 and her Master of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University in 1999. She has professional experience in the private practice setting of dental hygiene and public health. She enjoys researching topics on instrument sharpening, ergonomics, ultrasonic scaling and herbal medicine in dentistry.
Karen Mercer, RDH, MPH
Karen is a graduate of Middlesex Community College Dental Hygiene Program. She has a BS from Granite State College and a Masters of Public Health from UNH. Her interest in public health has allowed her to participate in an oral health program for prenatal patients and a research project to improve the oral health of residents in long term care. Karen has over thirty years of clinical experience in private practice and has taught at NHTI for over 10 years.
Margaret Ray, RDH, M.Ed.
Maggie received her A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene and her B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of Bridgeport, Fones School of Dental Hygiene. Maggie earned her Master’s degree in education from Antioch New England University. She worked over 30 years as a dental hygienist in general and periodontal practices and continues to work as a clinical dental hygienist in private practice during her summer breaks from teaching. Maggie began her dental career as a dental assistant graduating with a certificate in dental assisting from Briarwood Jr. College. Maggie is a Professional Development Instructor for the Business Training Center at NHTI, a member of the NH Board of Dental Examiners Dental Hygiene Committee, and a member of the NH Oral Health Coalition Steering Committee.
Lisa Scott, CDA, RDH, BS, M.Ed.
Lisa became a certified dental assistant in 1987. She graduated from the NHTI dental hygiene program in 1994 with an Associate's Degree. In 2005 she graduated from Granite State College with a BS in Applied Technology in Education and Training. In 2008, Lisa received her M.Ed. in Health Education from Plymouth State College. Lisa is an officer and active member of the NH American Dental Assistants Association. Lisa has experience working as a dental assistant and dental hygienist in general, orthodontic and periodontic offices.
Deb Maynard, AS, Dental Clinic Manager
Deb graduated from the NHTI Dental Assisting program in 2002, and first earned her CDA in 2003. With an Associate’s degree in Business Management from Alfred State College in New York, Deb began working as the part time office assistant for the NHTI Dental Clinic. In 2014, Deb became the full time Dental Clinic Manager, and serves the Allied Dental Education students in that capacity. Deb has experience as a CDA and Patient Care Coordinator in general and prosthodontic practices, and also has experience in customer service and lending.
Barbara Stowers, RDH, MS
Barbara is a graduate of NHTI’s dental hygiene program and earned her Master of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from MCPHS University in Boston. With several years of private practice experience, Barbara teaches in the periodontics and clinical dental hygiene courses.
Elizabeth “BJ” Brown, RDH, CPHDH, MS
BJ is a graduate of Westbrook College with an A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene, and an M.S. in Dental Public Health from Boston University's Goldman School of Dental Medicine, and is also a Certified Public Health Dental Hygienist. BJ has over 30 years of experience in private practice and in public health, focusing primarily in geriatrics and long term care. In addition, BJ plans and coordinates dental continuing education in the area of dental public health.
Donna Clougherty, RDH, M.Ed.
Donna is a graduate of The Forsyth School For Dental Hygienist. She earned a BA from Notre Dame college and a Masters Degree in Education from Plymouth State University. She has experience in private practice dental hygiene and in public health. Donna has over 28 years of teaching experience at NHTI and served as the Department Head of the Allied Dental Education Programs for 14 years.
Connie M. George, RDH, M.Ed.
As a graduate of the NHTI Dental Hygiene Program, Connie has had professional experience in private practice dental hygiene as well as early childhood education, social work and school counseling. She received her BS from Plymouth State University and her MEd from the University of New Hampshire in 1989.
Sandra Inzer, RDH, MS, RD, LD
Sandra is a Registered Dental Hygienist who has been working in private practice for 26 y ears. She has worked in the fields of perio, ortho, pedo and general practice. She is also a Registered and Licensed Dietician and has been an instructor at UNH in the Nutritional Sciences and Dietetic Technician Programs.
Ellen Legg, RDH
Ellen earned her A.S. and Certificate of Dental Hygiene from Bristol Community College and her B.A. in Community Health Education from San Francisco State University. She has practiced in four different states in a variety of practice settings. Ellen brings over twenty-five years of experience to her position as an instructor in the Dental Hygiene clinic.
Lynn Noonan, CDA, RDH, MBA
Lynn graduated from NHTI’s dental hygiene program and earned her B.S. degree from Franklin Pierce University. In addition, Lynn earned her MBA in Leadership at Franklin Pierce University. With several years of experience in the dental field, Lynn earned her Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential in 2009. Lynn serves as a clinical instructor in the dental assisting and dental hygiene programs and teaches in the areas of dental materials, dental radiology, and practice management. Lynn also plans and coordinates dental continuing education courses through the NHTI Business Training Center.
Danielle D'Alessandro, RDH
Danielle is a graduate of the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at MCPHS University in Boston. She has been working in private practice for three years and is currently working on finishing her Master of Science in Dental Hygiene degree. She serves as a clinical instructor for the second year dental hygiene students.
Patricia Crete, RDH
Trish graduated from NHTI’s dental hygiene program and is pursuing her Master of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from MCPHS University in Boston. Trish serves as clinical instructor for first and second year dental hygiene students and has several years of experience in private practice.
