Buying Books
I need help to pay for books. What do I do?
Buying books for college can be a considerable financial expense. This information is provided to assist you with planning for these purchases.
- Plan ahead to avoid last minute stress about how to pay for your books. Failure to plan ahead can also mean delays in getting your books, which in turn, will put you behind in your assignments.
- The Bookstore accepts most major credit cards and payment by check (no two party checks).
- Student Senate Short Term Applied Loan (STAL): The STAL is for students to purchase books and educational supplies through the NHTI Bookstore while waiting for their financial aid to be disbursed. The STAL will be deducted from the student's financial aid when it is received by the Bursar's Office. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office.
- Transition Program: Offers support and financial assistance in the form of grant awards toward tuition and books for matriculated students who meet the following criteria: single parents, single pregnant women, displaced homemakers, students with documented disabilities, and ESL students who are enrolled in a career or technical degree, certificate or diploma program at NHTI, enrolled in at least 6 credits at NHTI and are eligible for financial aid. Applications are available on a semester by semester basis from the Student Affairs Office, Financial Aid Office, Coordinator of Disabilities Services, the ESL tutor, and online at http://www.nhti.edu/campuslife/counselingtransition.htm.
- Community College System of New Hampshire Flexible Loan Funds for Students with Disabilities
- NHCTC Foundation Employee-Sponsored Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students
