You Still Have Time to Study Abroad
in 2014

NHTI has three trips planned in 2014 -- Eastern Europe and Costa Rica during Spring Break, and Barcelona in late May.  Time to enroll in the March trips in coming to a close on December 9 and 10 respectively.

Eastern Europe

The Eastern Europe trip takes you to three countries to visit Budapest, Prague and Krakow, plus Auschwitz -- among the many things you will see that changed the world.  A three credit SO 298 Study Abroad course is available as an option.  Contact: Sarah Hébert, 271-6484 x4201.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica takes you into the beautiful tropical jungles of Central America.  The wildlife, the volcanic mountains, the warmth of the people and climate make this a special place to visit.  The option to take BI 180 Tropical Ecology and Conservation as a lab science course is available.  Contact Amy Liptak, 271-6484 x4243.

Barcelona

Barcelona is a magical city on the northwest coast of Spain.  With its remarkable architecture, art and marvelous food it is a place you will want to return to.  FL 112 Elementary Spanish II and EN291B Contemporary Spanish Literature are both options.  Contact Kris Lucas, 271-6940 x4325.

A Message from your Safety Committee

As winter approaches, so does winter weather and slippery conditions.  PLEASE be prepared and be extra cautious.

Things to consider:  NHTI is a walking campus. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear or keep an extra pair of shoes at your desk.

  • Wear flat-soled shoes/boots with good tread;
  • Walk slowly with small steps, paying attention to the path ahead;
  • Use extra caution between cars, where it's hard to clean;
  • Use handrails on stairs;
  • Stay on cleared walkways;
  • Call Maintenance about particularly icy/slippery spots (x4062);
  • Wipe off your shoes/boots well when coming in from outdoors;
  • Watch for wet spots indoors;
  • Report all work-related incidents/injuries to HR (x4227).

BE SAFE!
