Hernando Places 2nd in USCAA National Championship Race
The NHTI men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the USCAA National Championship race in Syracuse, NY, November 7-8. The men placed 13th overall out of 19 teams, while the women did not have enough runners to finish as a team.
For the NHTI men individually, Nacho Hernando (Sunapee) placed second overall with a time of 27:42, only 12 seconds behind the race winner. Also placing for the Lynx men were Quinn Parker (Hampton) 50th at 30:57, Viktor Montanez (Hillsboro) 113th at 33:55, Greg Keiling (Moravia, IA) 131st at 34:46, and Brian Fox (Madison) 133rd at 34:52.
Because he finished in the top seven, Hernando picks up USCAA All-Conference Honors. He is the third NHTI cross country runner to be named an All-American.
Placing individually for the NHTI women were Cassie Graham (Westford, MA) 85th at 29:50, Elizabeth Anderson (Henniker) 95th at 30:26, Danira Ibrahimovic (Manchester) 114th at 32:43 and Catie Tirrell (Concord) 126th at 35:11. Graham and Anderson were both named Cross Country Academic All Americans.
Both of the men’s and women’s cross country seasons have now come to an end.
