Concord – The Human Service department at NHTI will hold an information night on Tuesday June 2nd for all persons interested in its degree and certificate programs in Human Service and Addiction Counseling. This free program will be held in the Student Center room 225, from 6-8 pm.

The department offers two different 2-year Associates Degree programs. The Human Service degree prepares students to work with individuals in need of direct care, assistance and personal support. In addition, the program prepares the student to transfer to a 4-year school to complete a baccalaureate degree. The Addiction Counseling degree provides professional education and field experience for students who seek careers as addiction counselors. Students are academically and professionally prepared for the process of becoming a New Hampshire licensed alcohol and drug counselor.

In addition, the department offers two Certificate programs. The Community Social Service certificate is a 26-credit evening program which helps students develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide clients with effective community-based support. The Addiction Counseling/Criminal Justice certificate, a joint program of Human Service and NHTI's Criminal Justice department, provides participants with increased knowledge and understanding of the delivery of successful addiction treatment within the criminal justice system. This 23-credit program can be taken in a day format, or over two years in a day/evening format.
