Electronics Recycling Day

Trash That Old Computer! - Safely and Responsibly

For Immediate Release
April 13, 2009
Contact: Alan Blake, 271-8904

Concord – NHTI's Environmental Action Club is sponsoring an Electronics Recycling Day on Wednesday, April 29th from 10 am to 2 pm. This is a great opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of your old electronics - computers, monitors, TVs, etc. A truck will be stationed in NHTI's Parking Lot B to collect your equipment.

Cost is FREE for computers, computer accessories and other electronics. A small fee ($8-12, depending on TV housing type) will be charged for televisions. This fee will be waived for NHTI students with valid ID.

All electronics will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Working electronics will be donated to schools and organizations that partner with the CRT Recycling, the event vendor. Parts that are reclaimable (chips, wires, glass) will be reused in their component forms. All non-reusable parts will be shredded and recycled. Monitors and televisions are 100% recycled in an environmentally safe manner in compliance with New Hampshire state law that bans their disposal in landfills and incinerators. None are shipped to foreign countries where waste is often uncontrolled or poorly regulated. Hard drives that are removed will be shredded at CRT Recycling's facility in Brockton, MA.

For questions about this activity, please contact Ruth Heath at or 271-7722.
