Concord – Every April, the NHTI Wings of Knowledge lecture series presents "Culture in Many Societies," a forum in which one or more NHTI students from foreign countries share insights of their homeland cultures. NHTI has students from more than 45 countries of origin, so this program has provided a rich opportunity for the college to celebrate and share its diversity with the community. On Tuesday April 7th at 7:00 pm, the series will feature General Studies major Alida Rwabalinda. [Note: Alida replaces the originally scheduled speaker, Wagealla Salih of Sudan.] Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served. Alida is originally from Rwanda, but has also spent time in Kenya. She will talk about her home country, its history, and traditions, and also discuss her experiences and observations in coming to a new country. Launched in 2001-02, Wings of Knowledge is an annual series of cultural events sponsored by the NHTI Forum. The series supports and expands upon NHTI's wide variety of academic offerings, and is another element in the college's expanding community college mission.
