Child & Family Development Center Offers Two Free Workshops

Concord – This month, the Child & Family Development Center at NHTI will offer two free seminars of interest to parents, teachers, caregivers, and child care providers.

On Thursday March 12th, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, the Center will offer a workshop on "Asthma Care for Kids." Teachers, child care providers, parents and caregivers will be given the tools and knowledge needed to help children with asthma breathe easier and to create healthier indoor environments. Topics covered will include: tips for improving classroom air quality, basics of asthma, how to detect warning signs & symptoms, recognize common triggers & to avoid them, tips on how to prevent an asthma episode, what to do when an episode has begun, and common medications used with asthma.

On Monday March 16th, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm, the Center will present "Early College Savings" with Angela Nuzzi, an expert college counselor from the Center for College Planning at the NHHEAF Network Organizations. It is never too early to start to plan - academically or financially - for a college education. During this session, Ms. Nuzzi will share the basics about college savings options, and details about the impact of saving on student eligibility for financial aid.
