The NHTI Child and Family Development Center (CFDC) is pleased to announce a new series of workshops to be held in January and February 2012. These programs are suitable for parents, teachers and caregivers.
Tuesday Jan 24, 6:00 - 8:00 pm - Director Collaboration
A special program for childcare center directors. Topic: Policies and Procedures. Do you struggle with getting staff to follow through on "rules"? Do you feel guilty about implementing them? Do you have "rules" that are expected but not written? Come share and gain strategies to creating policies and procedures that are clear and consistent for staff to follow, thus making this easier for you in your role as director. If you have policies, bring them along and we can review them as well. Presented by Lisa Ranfos, MS, Master Professional Workshop Trainer, Director, CFDC.Thursday Jan 26, 6:00 - 7:30 pm - The Process of Creative Art
We all know that art is important in our classrooms but how do we notice artistic progress? By practicing a variety of artistic techniques and processes you will understand the importance of exploring materials and how the process of creating can foster cognition and different developmental stages for in-depth self-expression. Presented by Katherine Lugg, BA, Master Professional Workshop Trainer, Lead Preschool Teacher, CFDC, and members of the Preschool Team.Thursday Feb 28, 6:00 - 8:30 pm - Cooking Without a Kitchen
Everyone knows that cooking activities are good for children, but what if you aren't lucky enough to be equipped with a kitchen? This interactive workshop will explore a variety of ways to cook child-friendly snacks/meals in spaces that do not have ovens or stovetops. Participants will be invited to actually create and taste some of the recipes. We will mainly focus on foods but will also share some interesting non-cooking sensory play recipes. The recipes used will closely follow the guidelines set forth by the New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Criteria, as well as those set by NAEYC. Participants will be asked to discuss their challenges of cooking with small children and to brainstorm and suggest positive strategies to other participants. Come prepared with your favorite non-cooking recipe written on a 3x5 index card and leave with a stack of recipes and ideas! Presented by Andrea Foster, BA, Master Professional Workshop Trainer, Lead Toddler Teacher, CFDC, and Heather Mason, BS, Teacher Level 6.
The cost for each workshop is $15, dinner included. All workshops will be held at NHTI's Child & Family Development Center, 21 College Drive, Concord, NH, 03301. To register please contact Cameron Hamel at (603) 271-8910 or .
