NHTI Library Profile
Located at the center of the NHTI campus, the Library serves both the college and public community. The Library contains over 30,000 print and non-print titles, 200 print journals and a selected number of journal back issues maintained in both print and microform formats. Books and other materials are shelved in the open book stacks according to the Library of Congress Classification System. All library materials are accessed through the Library On-Line Public Access Catalog (OPAC), which also lists holdings at the six other Community College libraries. A variety of electronic subscription services and links are available on our homepage. The library website can be accessed from the NHTI main page at www.nhti.edu /under Library.
Current periodicals are displayed in the main reading room and back issues are stored in compact shelving. Patrons are encouraged to use EBSCOHost, our online periodical access database and index to locate specific journal articles. The various EBSCO databases provide access to an impressive number of scholarly journals, newspapers, books, papers and documents, many of which are presented in full text format.
The Library provides media equipment and other non-print viewing and/or listening stations, as well as group study rooms for patron use. Workstations are available in the Library for accessing the online catalog, as well as a 20 station computer lab for data base searches. The computer lab is equipped with Microsoft Office and other various computer programs required for course use. The Library is also wireless and over 90% of the research capabilities are available online. The Library is also home to NHTI Archives, an on-going Concord buildings architecture project as well as special collections of materials in architecture, the paleoarchaeology of New England (NEARA), and autism. The professional staff of the Library are always ready to select, process, maintain, and interpret all segments of the collection for users The library staff regularly fills interlibrary loan requests for materials unavailable in our library. Interlibrary loan forms are available on our homepage and at the Circulation Desk. There is no charge for this service.
Circulation Regulations
A valid NHTI ID card is required to check books and other materials out ofthe
Library and to establish an account that will allow you access to
interlibrary loan from other libraries. Any book taken out through the
interlibrary loan is considered to be an extension of the NHTI Library
policies. Therefore, any student with outstanding material obtained through
interlibrary loan will be denied transcripts, grades, and degree until any
balance is paid in full. ID cards for members of the community
at a cost of $10.00 per year and are issued in the library. Materials are
checked out for three weeks and may be renewed unless requested by another
patron. Reserve Materials for specific courses are available at the
Circulation Desk for use in the Library. Reference materials and periodicals
are also designated as non-circulating. A Book Return is located in the
outside lobby. You may leave materials in this book drop or return them in
the slot at the Circulation Desk inside the building. Do not leave materials
on top of the Circulation Desk. Use one of the two book return slots to be
sure no one else takes a book still charged out to you. Books not returned
after 30 days from the due date are treated as lost; the borrower will be
billed by U S mail for the replacement cost of the item(s) plus a processing
fee for each item. Copies of all bills will be forwarded to the Office of the
Registrar. If outstanding library materials are not returned and/or charges
are unpaid by the first day of final exams each semester, course grades shall
be withheld until the account is cleared; returning students will not be able
to register for classes. Community members with outstanding overdues will be
denied the annual renewal of their accounts until their obligations are
cleared.

NHTI subscribes to a service provided by the Copyright Clearinghouse (copyright.com) administered by the Library which provides a legal means for the dissemination of copyrighted materials.
