Rules for Usage of NHTI Computer Facilities -

This is a regulated facility for use by NHTI students, faculty and staff only, and in addition to the following rules, lab users are expected to comply with the conduct guidelines specified in the NHTI Student Handbook.

  1. Students must be prepared to show valid NHTI student ID when requested by Lab Monitor, NHTI Security or other NHTI staff.
  2. The computer lab is a study and learning environment. Please be considerate of other students' rights by being quiet.
  3. Eating is prohibited in computer labs at all times. Beverages in covered containers are allowed. Dispose of waste properly.
  4. Do not place books or personal belongings on any printer, monitor, or computer equipment. This can interfere with hardware operation and/or inhibit proper cooling functions for the equipment.
  5. Students are responsible for cleaning up any area they use-this includes discarding scrap paper or printouts in their proper recycling or trash receptacle.
  6. Children are allowed on a space available basis and must be supervised and exhibit behavior appropriate to a college classroom.
  7. Loading or installation of any software/programs/games on hard drive is prohibited. In addition, any alteration of system settings or configuration is prohibited. High network traffic may result in temporary prohibitions including, but not limited to, gaming, instant messaging, and e-mail.
  8. The display or transmission of threatening, obscene, or harassing materials is prohibited.
  9. Students must deactivate cell phones and electronic pagers while using the computer lab.
  10. The connection of outside equipment to NHTI computer equipment is prohibited unless specific authorization is granted by NHTI faculty or staff.
  11. Students must limit their printing of documents to fewer than 15 pages unless authorization is granted from NHTI faculty or staff.
  12. Permission for after-hours use may be sought from NHTI faculty; a "Room Usage After Hours" form should be obtained and presented to NHTI Security upon request.
  13. Additional rules may apply in particular labs.
