NHTI Learning Center

Study Skills & Reading Center

Current Schedule (PDF or Request a Copy in Print)

Reading Center
Work one-on-one with professional reading tutors. During appointments, learn and reinforce strategies for reading assignments in any subject, including vocabulary development, comprehension, retention, and research. Students may make regular appointments to stay abreast of course work and build confidence.

Study Skills
Study skills are the techniques that successful students use in order to achieve their educational goals. Study skills include topics such as learning styles, organizing course materials, managing time, taking lecture notes, learning from textbooks, and performing well on tests and exams.

Study behaviors are the actions that apply these skills to current academic assignments. Learning Center academic advisors use a variety of self-assessments and questionnaires to help students identify their strengths and challenges as learners, and to develop an action plan specific to current assignments

Students who wish to improve their study skills are encouraged to use the Academic Success Guidebook, Part I and Part II.
