1. What is the NHTI School Code?

   Our school code is 002581.

2. What are the steps for applying for Financial Aid at NHTI?

   Refer to "Process to Apply for Financial Aid" page at http://www.nhti.edu/financialaid/processtoapply.htm.

3. Do I have to wait until I am accepted into a program to submit the financial aid paperwork?

   No. Once you have applied for Admission for the current aid year you should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.FAFSA.ed.gov.

4. What is the Pell Grant?

   This is the Federal government’s basic grant program. Eligibility is determined from the information the student provides on the FAFSA.

5. What is an independent student?

   You are an independent student when you reach the age of 24, have become a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, are married, have a child that you supply at least ½ of the support, have a Bachelor's Degree or were a ward of the court.

6. Are there other grants or scholarships available?

   Yes, Refer to the "Additional Grant, Loan and Scholarship Information" page at http://www.nhti.edu/financialaid/scholarshipopportunities.htm and on our scholarship bulletin board located across from the Admissions Office. We encourage students to do research on their own. NHTI does not have a complete list of all scholarships available.

7. I have financial aid but it didn’t show up on my bill; can you help me?
   • The Federal Government mandates that funds be held for 30 days into the semester for first time Stafford Loan borrowers. Each semester, grants and loans will begin to disburse approximately 30 days into the semester and each week thereafter through the end of the semester.
8. Can you tell me when my disbursement date is?

   We do not know when your disbursement date. Please check with the lender that you completed the Master Promissory Note (MPN) with.

9. Can you tell me how much my refund will be?

   We do not know what your refund will be. You can subtract your financial aid from your bill to estimate your refund if you are eligible for a refund.

10. Can you tell me when I will receive my refund?

    Financial Aid refunds are mailed within 14 days of the disbursement that creates the credit balance on the student account. You can monitor your account via the Student Information System.

11. Can I access my financial aid information on-line?

    Yes, you can, through the Student Information System link which is located under the "Quick Find" from the NHTI home page.
