Who can participate in NHTI's Travel/Study Abroad trips?
- Anyone 18 or older interested in broadening their learning experience
- To receive credit, must have completed the equivalent of at least one semester (12 credits) of college coursework or must request permission from the instructor
- Small group limited to 18 participants for most programs
What is included in the program?
- Each program differs slightly, but most all include major touring sites
- Air to/from Manchester or Boston, accommodations, transfers, and most meals
- Language instruction when appropriate
- Lectures on history, art, architecture, culture, and ecology if applicable
- Choose to earn three or four college credits or simply come as an interested traveler
Will the trip be escorted?
- At least one NHTI group escort will be available to handle all program details and ensure a smooth trip.
- Local English speaking contacts and hosts are available on location
What are the names of the courses and how many credits will I receive?
- SO 298 Travel/Study Abroad Experience: a three-credit Social Science course
- BI 180 Tropical Ecology and Conservation: a four-credit Biology course
- Transcripts will come from NHTI
What must I do to earn the 3 or 4 credits?
- While every program is different depending on the destination and the academic focus, students are always expected to attend all on location lectures and tours.
- Some trips will also require mandatory class meetings before and after the trip and may have some required reading in preparation.
- Most programs require students to keep a daily journal while away and to use that journal as a basis for a final paper or oral presentation.
Is financial aid available?
- Financial aid is available and covers the cost of your tuition, which enables you to defer the payment of $500 from the cost of the program.
