How many children can attend?
Approximately fifty children can be served at any one time during the day program. Full time children will fill most of those spaces and other spaces will be reserved for children whose families need part time assistance with child care.
How does the waiting list work?
Children placed on our waiting list are placed in order of date of application and date of birth. We try to keep a fairly even balance within each program as to age and gender.What are the age/classrooms groups?We are a state licensed facility and are also nationally accredited. This means that we must maintain a strict teacher to child ratio in each program.
Spaces become available in each program when one of the following situations occurs;
*In order to move into the preschool program, children must be completely toilet trained and be three years of age. Since children are unpredictable in terms of toilet learning, we can never be certain when they will actually be ready to move….we have to 'wait and see!'
- A child's schedule changes (days or times)
- A child withdraws from a program for any reason
- When children move from one program to the next (for example, from the infant room to the family room).
If you have a child that is enrolled in one of our programs, you are considered an "in-house" family. In-house families have priority over others on our standard waiting list. If an in-house family needs a change in their schedule or if they have another child that will need a space, they are placed on our in-house waiting list.
The number of in-house families on the waiting list changes radically from year to year, with several one year, and none the next. When spaces do become available and there are no in-house families waiting, we can then begin calling families from our waiting list.
With so many factors involved in enrollment to the center, we cannot accurately predict when spaces will become available until we receive notice from a parent, and the space actually becomes available. However, we phone through our waiting list on a regular basis, for two reasons: 1, to update the list and remove those who no longer need to be on it (often the waiting list is shortened a little during this process), and 2, to keep in touch with parents and advise them of how things are moving along. We cannot give you a 'number' of where you are on the waiting list due to the many factors involved.
The Center has three classrooms. The Infant/Toddler room serves children from age six weeks to three years. The Family Child Care room serves children ages eighteen months through three years. The Preschool classroom serves children ages three through five, until eligible for kindergarten.
How can I learn about other policies?
If you wish to ask a specific question, you can leave a message for Lisa Ranfos at 271-8911 or write to her at . Registration packages, including a parent handbook, are available at the Center.
