Smoking Policy

  1. To promote the health and well being of NHTI students, faculty and staff and the general public, smoking is allowed only in designated areas and personal vehicles. The designated areas are the smoking gazebos on campus.
  2. Smoking is prohibited in all State-owned vehicles.
  3. Sale of tobacco products on campus is prohibited.
  4. Distribution of free tobacco products on campus is prohibited.
  5. Tobacco specific product advertisements are prohibited in college-run publications.
  6. Campus organizations are prohibited from accepting sponsorship from tobacco specific companies.
  7. Free tobacco treatment will be provided through the NHTI Health Services Office.
  8. NHTI Campus Safety is responsible for enforcement of this policy.

Fines:

First violation: $25.00
Second and subsequent violations: $50.00

All fines are to be paid within seven days of the date of issue. Payment is to be made at the Bursar’s Office. Failure to pay fines will result in the withholding of grades and degree.
