NHTI Health Services H1N1/Seasonal Flu Information, Fall 2009
According to the New Hampshire Health Alert Network, New Hampshire continues to confirm many cases of H1N1 across the state and is currently reporting “widespread” pattern of influenza to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Among other H1N1 outbreaks, we are tracking a number of schools with increasing absentee rates. Fortunately, illness at this point continues to be mild in a vast majority of cases. 100% of circulating influenza strains tested by the NH Public Health Lab over the past few months are the novel 2009 H1N1 influenza strain and emergency rooms are seeing more people with chief complaint of acute respiratory disease.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be a H1N1 Flu vaccine clinic on Friday, November 20th from 3 - 7 PM in the Wellness Center Multipurpose Room for the following people:
- Ages 18 through 24 with underlying medical conditions.
- Healthcare workers and EMS with direct patient contact
As the vaccine becomes more available, New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS) will extend the H1N1 vaccine distribution priority groups to include everyone. As soon as this happens, we will hold more clinics.
In the meantime, please continue to cover your coughs/sneezes, wash your hands and stay home if you are sick. Thank you for trying to keep our campus healthy.
