Cross Country is o “no-cut” policy that allows all comers, at any ability level, an opportunity to participate in college sport without any experience necessary.
Why X-C at NHTI? A great opportunity to exercise, make friends and enjoy a very competitive collegiate experience.
Coaches Tom Walton and Perry Seagroves have over eighty five years of combined high school and college coaching experience. Perry is a top age-group road racer in New Hampshire and New England. Tom is also age-group competitive in road racing and flatwater marathon canoeing. Tom was named United States Canoe Association “Paddler of the Year” in 2007 and was runner-up USCA National Champion in 2010. Assistant Women's Coach Beth Wilkes is age-group competitive in NH.
Coaches Walton, Wilkes and Seagroves prize academic excellence, good character, teamwork and other values that combine to offer a quality experience to all members of the X-C family. In six seasons of varsity competition, the program has spawned 14 USCAA All Academic Team members and two All-Americans. Former Captain Heather Searles earned All-American honors three times. Heather won the USCAA Women's X-C National Championship in 2008 while Chris Apkarian earned All-American honors in 2010.
The travel experience for NHTI CC team members can be very exciting with trips to the Nationals in Virginia, Lake Placid, NY or a future site in the US. The USCAA nationals will always be a team goal for our team.
