  • Project Planning & Management
    This course provides a comprehensive but common sense project planning and control process that focuses on practical techniques for successfully completing projects on time and on budget. This session is software independent and yet supports all project management packages by teaching basic methods and using common algorithms. The emphasis is placed on developing an integrated project schedule, making decisions on the basis of quantifiable project data, and determining priorities in a multi-project environment. Using this understanding in a simulated real-world situation with limited time, scope, and cost, students are able to practice the techniques learned. All concepts and terminology are aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

Fred King, MBA, Faculty – NHTI, Business Administration Department
Fred has spent 26 years in divisions of Fortune 100 companies, equally divided between leading business units and managing human resource departments. Fred’s career began on the factory floor in industrial engineering, factory scheduling and managing production departments, and went on to include executive-level positions in retail service and wholesale distribution. He is currently a full-time professor in NHTI’s Business Associate’s degree program and works with the Business Training Center.

Marty Hunt, Faculty - NHTI, Business Administration Department
Marty spent 13 years in the commercial banking industry before joining NHTI. Marty currently serves as the Department Chair for the Business Management programs. She also serves on various Community Boards and holds professional memberships in many business related organizations. Marty was awarded the Commissioner’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2003 and specializes in Management/Supervision and Organizational Behavior.

John Riopel, MCP
John has over 24 years of experience as a Program and Project Manager in government services and commercial industry implementing and managing internal, civil, commercial, and government projects. John has provided Program and Project management expertise to the US Navy, Army, banking, telecommunications, retail, and entertainment industry clients. Using a disciplined approach aligned to the Project Management Institute, John has lead teams in the delivery of strategic initiatives throughout his career. John's technical background in Microsoft project management technologies spans the entire evolution of the Microsoft Project toolset, with a deep understanding of how to apply these technology constructs and concepts to real-world project management challenges. John also conducts training courses on project management theory and does extensive consulting in the application of project management tools and techniques.

Mr. Riopel is President and CEO of the project and portfolio management consulting firm PM Providers. He is also a certified Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in Enterprise Project Management, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Microsoft Project Users Group (MPUG) Boston Chapter.

Matthew T. Davis, PMP, MCTS
Matthew has been an active member of the Project Management Community for more than 20 years. In addition to his background in project management and consulting, Mr. Davis has managed development and delivery of PMO's, EPM deployments, project delivery methodologies, strategic change programs, training seminars, organizational maturity assessments, and other strategic initiatives for clients of all kinds. Mr. Davis has provided consulting services to a variety of well known companies, including Fidelity Investments, Estee Lauder, Reuters News, John Hancock Insurance, Iron Mountain, Mead Johnson, Mohegan Sun Casino, and AARP. He has also provided consulting services to leaders in the medical and healthcare industries including Smith & Nephew, Biogen-Idec, and Hewlett-Packard Medical Products Group.

Mr. Davis is Vice-President for Consulting Services at PM Providers. Matt is also certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI), a Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) in Project & Portfolio Management, and is President of the Microsoft Project Users Group (MPUG) Boston Chapter.
