The Preliminary Oral Inspection for the Dental Assistant (POI)
This course prepares dental assistants to perform a preliminary oral inspection on patients that meets the requirements of the NH Board of Dental Examiners. It is a prerequisite for taking all other dental assisting expanded duty courses, including dental radiology. Topics include taking medical and dental histories, obtaining and reading vital signs, basic oral anatomy and terminology, and dental charting. Prerequisites, required documents and materials: 400 hours of chairside experience, Employment Verification form, blood pressure cuff & stethoscope. (Course not required for a Graduate Dental Assistant from an ADA accredited program)
Dates: Saturday, January 21, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (priority given to dental
assistants registering for the NHTI Dental Radiology course)
OR Friday, February 3, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
